This year we are supporting Highland Hospice’s Wear Yellow Day on Friday 31st May. This means everyone is welcome to come to school wearing yellow on Friday in exchange for a donation for the Highland Hospice. There will also be sunflower pin badges, wristbands and balloons on sale, each for a suggested donation of £1.00. […]
We are forecast to have another very hot day today. Please could everyone ensure they come to school with sun-cream, a refillable water bottle and sun hat. We will be outside all afternoon for Bike Ability so it is important we are covered up.
Please note, Millburn Academy have had to revise the date of our P7 parents’ evening due to hall unavailability.
The revised date is Thursday 20 June at 7pm, rather than Monday 24 June.
The transition days remain 25, 26 and 27 June.
Another week in P7A has flown by! This week P7 have had a large literacy focus learning about bees in relation to our whole school topic, Bee Brilliant. P7 have been working collaboratively to create Bee B&Bs to help encourage bees and other wildlife into our playground. In addition to their B&B creation they have been designing brochures to market their B&B design.
On Wednesday P7A had their first Bike Ability session. We are very fortunate to have two parent volunteers plus a pupil support assistant leading the sessions in addition to myself. P7A learned how to complete an ‘M-Check’ which covers all the safety aspects of the bike that need to be checked before taking your bike on the road. We also looked at balance, control and speed. For next Wednesday pupils will need their bike, helmet and if possible a set of gloves too.
A lot of information letters were issued on Friday regarding homework as well as a trip to Safe Highlanders on Tuesday. Please see school bags for info.

P7A have had a very busy week! On Monday we were delighted to welcome Lucas and his parents into the class for the morning. P7A have a partner class in France whom we share our learning and news with. Lucas is a member of our partner class in France so P7A were able to practice their french vocabulary skills with Lucas. He very kindly brought us a couple of french books as well as some french sweeties too.
In PE we have been working on our athletics skills with pupils competing against each other in the P7 Sports Champion Competition run by our PE teacher from Millburn, Miss Macleod.
In Literacy we have been learning about the humble bee. P7A completed a fact finding mission out in the playground on Monday as well as having an opportunity for independent research on Tuesday. Today P7A started to write an information leaflet about bees.
In Numeracy we have continued to learn about decimals, fractions and percentages. When we sat our basic facts test this week the majority of the class passed which is excellent.
Please don’t forget Monday 6th May is a Bank Holiday and school will not be in. I hope you all have a super long weekend and look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday.
